World Cup 2010 news: Lennon and Cole back in training
07/04/2010
England boss Fabio Capello has received a timely boost ahead of World Cup 2010 with the return to training of Ashley Cole and Aaron Lennon.
Tottenham winger Lennon has been sidelined for three months with a groin injury but is now being put through his paces again at the Spurs training ground.
While his club boss Harry Redknapp is keen not to rush the youngster back into action, he expressed confidence that the midfielder will be back to his best in time for World Cup 2010.
"Aaron has been working on his fitness and should be OK," Redknapp told ESPN. "If Fabio Capello rings and asks me about Aaron, I'll say he should be in good shape for the summer."
Chelsea left-back Cole, meanwhile, has recovered faster than expected from the broken ankle he suffered back in February and should now get some game time ahead of World Cup 2010.
It eases Capello's defensive worries, which were exacerbated when Wayne Bridge ruled himself out of the tournament for personal reasons.
