World Cup 2010 news: Will Capello choose Hargreaves over Barry?

11/05/2010

Speculation is rising ahead of Fabio Capello announcing his World Cup 2010 squad - and injured Gareth Barry could miss out.

Later today, My 11th 2010, Capello will unveil his provisional 30-man squad representing England at this year's South Africa World Cup. But rumours have already surfaced about who is in and who Capello is leaving behind for the tournament.

Among those who could be missing out on a place in Capello's team is Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry, who suffered an ankle injury in last week's match against Tottenham.

Barry is expected to be out for four weeks while his injury heals and with World Cup 2010 starting on June 11th Capello has said it is too long.

It is believed that the England coach could replace Barry with Manchester United player Owen Hargreaves, despite the midfielder's own injury track record this season. The former Bayern Munich star has been out for most of the season with a knee injury.

Yesterday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that Capello is planning on naming 23-year-old Theo Walcott in the World Cup 2010 squad.
