The view from our lens: The Championships, Wimbledon

May 12, 2017

The Championships, Wimbledon have played host to some of the greatest sporting spectacles we’ve ever seen, and 2016 was no exception, with  Andy Murray win his second Wimbledon men’s single title and the unbeatable Serena Williams triumphing over Angelique Kerber to win her seventh Wimbledon ladies title and 22nd Grand Slam title. If that wasn’t enough, the Williams sisters combined to claim their sixth Wimbledon women’s doubles title and their 14th Grand Slam as a Women’s doubles partnership!

As with every year, in 2016 there was only one way to watch experience the tennis, and that was at one of our luxury hospitality suites. Guests got closer to the action with official Centre Court and No.1 Court premium tickets whilst enjoying the very best in hospitality that Wimbledon has to offer.

Guests at The Lawn (previously The Gatsby Club) enjoyed the beautiful garden whilst sipping on exclusive cocktails, designed and served by specialist mixologists. The food was an event in itself, with a three-course a la carte menu designed and created by three generations of the Roux family (Albert Roux OBE, Michel Roux Jr. and Emily Roux), a traditional Wimbledon afternoon tea with Martha Collison, the youngest ever contestant on, and star of, the Great British Bake Off, and (of course) strawberries and cream! If all the delicious food wasn’t enough, our Whisky and Cigar lounge, also proved a firm favourite with our hospitality guests and celebrity chefs alike!

Our overseas guests to Wimbledon were treated to breakfast on arrival, enjoyed a brilliant chef’s table experience, a wide selection of complementary drinks and a green screen that created an unforgettable photographic memento of their stay. Guests at the Speakeasy (now The Lawn Private Dining), our exciting private venue, enjoyed an exclusive experience tailored to make their day extraordinary. Guest speakers, the finest food, and access to a picturesque garden and all its delights – there’s not much more you could ask for!

With a four-course à la carte menu and complimentary Champagne bar overlooking Wimbledon, in addition to concierge service, a personal hostess and prime Centre Court tickets – you couldn’t get much closer to the tennis at Wimbledon than this.

However, If you’d prefer to experience something more flexible and relaxed, than you may be interested to discover one of our newer hospitality suites, The Rosewater Pavilion. Conveniently situated within the Wimbledon grounds, The Rosewater Pavilion offers a range of informal areas and private lounges for groups of 2-12 guests, with outdoor terraces that provide stunning views of Centre Court and allocated court side seats.
