Exploring the summer's floral hospitality trends

July 24, 2017

Having worked back to back at this summer’s major sporting events, The Championships, Wimbledon, Aegon Championships and the Investec Derby Festival to name but a few, Lavender Green Flowers have been the creative force behind this season’s biggest blooms.

Here they take us through their busiest summer yet, and the processes behind coming up with everyone’s favourite flowers…

Floral displays are ultimately led by the client. With this firmly in mind, our team will always work closely with you to marry current trends and corporate branding, recognising the role flowers play in establishing the mood at an event or venue, whilst ensuring the event seamlessly stays ‘on brand’.

Knowing that floristry adds to the whole immersive experience, which is a trend in itself, we love nothing more than creating bespoke one-of-a-kind installations. Those seen at Epsom Downs Racecourse were no exception to this, and we are very proud to have created something so special for the Investec Derby Festival… A spectacular installation recreating the effect of a garden inside, in clashing colours and bright tones with Hydrangeas and Roses, giving guests a real taste of summer!

Understanding the art of visual communication our team ensures the clients’ key messages come across on the day, taking care to ensure that the flowers and foliage complement everything including the menus and room styling creating a real sense of occasion.

This is done by bringing to life some of the summer’s key trends- lots of foliage, English flowers in contrasting colours, to create seasonal and current displays like those at the Aegon Championships, where LGF experimented with different colours and textures in each of the hospitality areas.

The team has also seen a big demand for more natural floristry. For LGF this translated to using English wildflowers to create colourful designs at The Championships, Wimbledon which drew reference from ‘Tennis in an English Garden’. English wildflowers were used to create colourful designs within The Gatsby Club, a purpose built hospitality facility that is the focal point for guests visiting The Championships, Wimbledon.

Providing flowers for so many events requires careful and considered planning. During a single year LGF will supply flowers for over 1,000 events, of which the iconic outdoor sporting events are some of the most demanding, and all of them require cutting edge and trend driven design. This requires creativity, passion and extensive knowledge of floristry, something that Lavender Green Flowers certainly isn’t short of.
