In the middle of one of the best summers the UK has ever known, the capital once again played host to the annual tennis grand-slam known as The Championships, Wimbledon.
The opening day of the tournament was the second-warmest ever with the mercury hitting 35.7 Celsius and guests with Centre Court tickets enjoyed the opportunity to witness Roger Federer begin the defence of his men’s singles title.
Throughout the tournament our hospitality guests were treated to sumptuous luncheons and afternoon teas across the two facilities; our premium offering, Skyview Suites and our more flexible offering in The Gatsby Club, where guests could select from tickets to No. 1 Court or Centre Court.
It was a short journey to court for guests in our Skyview Suites. Built inside the Centre Court structure, the Skyview Suites represent the most premium of our hospitality offerings. Guests can enjoy a private suite for either 10 or 20 guests, with its own balcony that provides wonderful views of the grounds and city skyline. Guests begin the day with a vintage Champagne reception accompanied by canapés before being served a four-course à la carte menu designed by Restaurant Associates. They are then encouraged to return to their suites for afternoon tea, at a time to suit during the day’s play on court. This also provides an opportunity to sample some of the famous strawberries and cream.
Here’s a look at the Skyview Suites…
The Gatsby Club
Opposite gate 5 is the entrance to the car park for the Gatsby Club. This also serves as the pick-up and drop-off point for guests that wish to take a short buggy ride between the facility and the nearest entrance to the grounds. Once guests arrive at the entrance to this facility, they are greeted by our front of house staff and personally escorted to their table. Guests enjoy a three-course à la carte lunch designed by Albert Roux OBE, Michel Roux Jnr and Emily Roux, who are on hand during the day to talk through their menu with guests. Former players such as Mark Philippoussis are also present to chat with guests at the Player’s Tables. A DJ, saxophonist and guitarist each add their own unique tone to the delightful atmosphere, whilst the outside space proves very popular particularly in 2018 when it was bathed in sunshine for virtually the whole tournament. As you would expect, the liquid-nitrogen ice-cream machine is also in high demand.
Hospitality at The Championships always brings about a world-class food offering that caters for all tastes and dietary requirements. From amuse-bouche to afternoon tea, it doesn’t get much better than this…
With an array of drinks on offer, you’d struggle to choose a tipple a day, but in these summer climes, cocktails are a good choice. Expertly crafted by our talented mixologists and served with aplomb, our concoctions blend some of the finest flavours and premium spirits to create a truly satisfying refreshment.
Finally, we’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate our staff and everybody that works behind the scenes to make our events a continued success. Here’s an insight into what goes on in the kitchens and beyond to make your day the unforgettable.

Keith Prowse's senior event manager Ellie Fonseca commented on what was her first experience of working on the hospitality at Wimbledon:
"As my first year on the job it was amazing to see so many people who come back year after year and already know how to work well as a team, as well as being such experts about to how to make the event a success. All the staff, from the chefs, to the catering managers, to the waiting staff talk about how much they love working on the event, which is why they keep coming back. That love for what they do definitely helps us to deliver an experience to such a high standard."
Having worked tirelessly on the event since joining the company at the start of 2018, Ellie was pleased to see how much the guests enjoyed their experience.
"I loved reading the comment cards and feedback at the end of each day and seeing how impressed the guests were. We have a section on the feedback forms that asks what we can do to improve next year and it is such a motivator to read 'nothing, everything was perfect, do exactly the same!'”
We have had some incredible feedback from our guests, all of whom were extremely impressed with the service and experience they received.
“Our experience was brilliant. The service from the whole team was particularly good. Well done – what a great day.” Operations Director, NATS - Gatsby Club guest, Wimbledon
