The Evolution of The Lawn

February 27, 2019

Transforming the multi award-winning and much-loved Gatsby Club into The Lawn has been an emotional journey. The key is to retain the heartbeat of the space, its character, what our guests know and love. In our view, these can be summed up by immaculate service and quiet sophistication with a playful twist.

On approach to the double height glass structure guests will see our hosts waiting to greet them at the large entrance.

Once past the concierge and reception team, guests’ eyes will be immediately drawn to the new inside-outside bar serving the very best cocktails rivalling any London establishment.

Continuing into the garden, the ever-popular foot stream has been extended.  Dip your toes into the stream to cool off whilst watching the build up to the day’s play on the large outdoor screen. Complimentary sunglasses, towels and seat cushions ensure this is a very popular area within The Lawn. Mojo Flux, our live DJ duo with trumpet and trombone, will set the mood for the day with their mix of laid back tunes.

The styling of the garden is in harmony with The Championships, Wimbledon and reflects their vision of ‘tennis in an English Garden’. This vision extends to the styling of the window graphics, staff uniforms, floral designs and menus ensuring a cohesive feel in the space.

Inside The Lawn the double height roof allows us to hang large, flower patterned drapes. These drapes add flow to the restaurant, giving a different reveal as you wander through the space and adding a softness to the roof line.

On the new mezzanine these drapes add a level of intimacy in a large space. Throughout The Lawn the walls are clad in white, with tennis handle grip material to subtly bring the essence of the sport in a tactile way to the restaurant.

For guests who are looking for something different, the whisky and cigar bar has undergone a facelift with a larger space to relax, peruse the humidor and enjoy a classic whisky cocktail or something more contemporary.

The kitchens and service area have been enhanced to allow Albert, Emily and Michel Roux Jnr more space in which to create their inspired menu. The new and improved seafood counter will continue to serve the now famous fruits de mer which is always a huge hit with guests.

We are looking forward to welcoming our guests to The Lawn from 1 July.  We are sure they will enjoy immaculate service, quiet sophistication and a delicious cocktail!
